DUI
If you are reading this there is a good chance you recently endured one of the most frightening experiences of your life - being shackled and placed in the back of a patrol car. Now you need help. Like medicine, the practice of law embodies a multitude of specialties. DUI defense is complex and different from other criminal cases. Since 1991 Heather's practice has focused almost exclusively on DUI both for the state and defense. Her knowledge and expertise spans decades and her compassion and power to negotiate a deal is matched by what one client called her ability to be all " pit bull" when necessary.
DWAI
Driving with ability impaired (DWAI) is a lesser offense under the DUI category. It is a crime to drive if you are impaired by alcohol or drugs in the slightest degree. As with a DUI charge an experienced and skilled attorney is your best defense.
LICENSE SUSPENSIONs
Heather spent almost 20 years working for Florida's Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. She knows the intricacies of driver license laws which are rife with complexities and confusion. She is the go to source for other defense attorneys to assist them when faced with a client's license suspension issues whether the result of DUI or other offenses.
MINOR IN POSESSION (MIP)
While practicing law, Heather raised three daughters. Two have hit the 21 mark, are successful in their respective fields and her youngest is still in high school. Heather puts on her Mom hat when dealing with an MIP. Her goal is to avoid long term consequences, but to have the experience be impactful so that it is one to learn from. Her handling of MIPs resonates with empathy for both parent and child.
